I have known Kyle Erickson for most of her life, and could not be more enthusiastic about her candidacy for the County Legislature. As a  county legislator for 12 years, and Chair of the Board for five of those years,  I know how important integrity, values and empathy are for this job, especially today.

The residents of Danby and Caroline have a chance  to vote for a dynamic young woman with deep roots in Tompkins County, a high school history teacher who understands not only how government works but why it’s important.

I urge you to support Kyle in the primary June 24 and the election next Fall.

Having had the privilege of working with Kyle during my tenure at Ithaca High School, I can say without hesitation that she is the kid of leader our community needs. Kyle brings a deep understanding of the diversity and complexity of our youth and families — insight that will be invaluable in shaping inclusive and effective policies on the County Legislature.

She is a collaborative problem-solver who engaged thoughtfully with students, educators, community partners, and stakeholders. Her work is grounded in listening, equity, and action. Kyle is a fierce advocate, a tireless worker, and a trusted ally. I have known Kyle for decades, and she would be an incredible addition to the Tompkins County Legislature. She is brilliant, open-minded, grounded, easy to work with, and would bring many important - and often underrepresented - perspectives to the legislature.  She knows what it's like to be a working parent with a young child, she has years of experience being part of a local union (ITA), and knows how difficult it is for so many people in our area to afford housing, childcare, and to balance the demands of family and work. 

As an educator with a decade of experience teaching at Ithaca High School, Kyle also has seen (and continues to see) the experiences of a diverse array of families and children throughout our area.  Kyle has a calm and even-keeled energy that allows her to build respectful and collaborative relationships - these traits, in addition to her strong community support, her lived experiences and her fresh perspectives, are what will allow her to be an effective and incredible legislator.
